The idea for The Play Forest was hatched when I decided to return to full-time motherhood after spending an experimental year working at a local non-profit. Not one to sit still easily, I needed a creative project to bring focus to my days. Since my girls and I spend our days on adventures big and small, it seemed natural to bring these to life in written form.
The meaning behind the name comes from the wooded park near our house. Though it has a real name, our oldest daughter has referred to it as the Play Forest since she could speak, and the name stuck. When naming this website, I wanted to convey as sense of fun and wonder, as well as a connection to nature and our family, and the Play Forest fit the bill perfectly.
More than anything, I hope that this website will encourage more families to enjoy the outdoors together and to keep up an active lifestyle.
